Trenching and Shoring Safety Training For OSHA and NIOSH Compliance

This training is vitally important as the end result to proper training, and engineering most often ends up a tragedy. NIOSH reports that on average 60 workers die needlessly every year from trench cave ins. The training starts with an OSHA mandated Trenching and Excavations Plan - 29 CFR 1926.650 - 653A trench is a narrow excavation where the depth is greater than the width. The width is measured at the bottom of the trench, and isn't greater than 15 feet. So you can envision the hazard that it would create, and how quickly it could become a death trap without proper shoring, shoring system, or training. The shoring safety system prevents the sides of the trench from caving in. The competent person in charge must be aware of the types of soil at the site and the hazards each presents, and match the shoring system to the hazard of each application. Shoring, and related is also used by carpenters, and construction workers  to prevent structures from collapsing.
