About Compressed Air/Gas Safety Training for OSHA and NIOSH Compliance

If you are working in an area where compressed gases are shipped, stored, or in use, then you need to have this safety training. OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.101 dicusses the general requirements for compressed gas. Other OSHA regulations break it down even further.  Compressed air or gas has many uses, including as a propellant, energy to power equipment, heating as in hot work, just to name a few  and is usually contained in cylinders. There are inherent dangers or hazards associated with this. Consider for a moment what happens when you light a stick of TNT the explosion releases an enormous amount of energy in a  concentrated area and expands exponentially causing damage, destruction and death.  These cylinders which house compressed gases and air are essentially the same thing, or principle while being contained and controlled provide a wonderful service. If however the user, use or the storage of them is faulty or delinquent then you can expect the same results as the TNT, including turning them into deadly projectiles. So proper storage, handling and use of them is of the utmost importance. These programs will help you to determine the proper use, storage, and identification of the type of gases including compressed air the you will need to be aware of. Please don't become a statistic recently the Office of Compliance reported that over 5000 injuries were reported while using cylinders under pressure including 17 deaths.
