About Preventing Accidents In the Workplace and Accident Investigation

Everyday throughout the world accidents happen in the workplace. Accidents can happen for many different reasons. Carelessness by people, equipment failure, or surroundings behaving in an unexpected way are some of the causes. Accidents can happen to anyone at anytime and in any workplace. To minimize your company's risk, have them watch safety videos on how to prevent accidents. If or when an accident occurs your safety manager will be tasked with accident investigation. Your safety manager will need to know how to investigate an accident. The information learned from a proper and thorough investigation can often prevent a similar or other accidents from happening.

The most effective way to minimize the chances of an accident is to do a rigorous job site safety analysis by a "Competent Person" to identify hazards or potential hazards. Add these hazards into your site specific safety training and address these hazards in your refresher training. Use signs indicating the hazards and brief your employees when ever possible. All of this aids in developing a culture of Safety in the workplace.
